A chilling case has come to a close with the sentencing of 34-year-old Jared Krysiak of Brick Township, New Jersey, to eight years in state prison for desecrating human remains. The sentence, handed down on February 7, 2025, by Superior Court Judge Guy P. Ryan, follows Krysiak's guilty plea in December 2024, where he admitted to participating in the gruesome dismemberment and disposal of 56-year-old Kerry Rollason's body.

The crime unfolded on July 3, 2024, when Rollason was fatally shot in his Toms River home on Ravenwood Drive. Investigations revealed that Elizabeth Mascarelli, 29, of Seaside Heights, was the shooter. Following the murder, Krysiak, along with Mascarelli and two accomplices—Danielle Bolstad, 42, of Barnegat, and Jared Palumbo, 36, of Manchester—took part in dismembering Rollason's body. Krysiak reportedly used a pry bar to separate the victim’s joints, while the others completed the dismemberment.

The body parts were transported to a remote property in Jackson Township, where they were burned in a barrel. The remains were later discovered in black bags, along with a hatchet, during a search of the Jackson property on July 12, 2024.

The investigation was part of a larger probe that began on July 5, 2024, when authorities attempted to apprehend Maxwell Johnston, 35, of Manchester, wanted for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Gabriella Caroleo, 25, of Seaside Heights. During a standoff with police, Johnston tragically took his own life. Following the standoff, evidence of Rollason's murder was uncovered, leading to the arrests of Mascarelli, Krysiak, Bolstad, and Palumbo.

In court, Assistant Ocean County Prosecutor Julie Peterson described the crime as "gruesome," emphasizing the horrific nature of the desecration. Judge Ryan, in his ruling, noted Krysiak’s extensive criminal record, which includes previous convictions for robbery, burglary, and drug-related offenses, as well as a troubling history of substance abuse.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the severe consequences of involvement in such heinous acts, highlighting the dedication of law enforcement and the judicial system in delivering justice for victims and upholding public safety.
